There is no greater privilege than to be trusted with a persons end of life wishes. Times have evolved to allow us to celebrate life in more diverse ways than ever thought of before. The wishes of the loved one, both as an individual and as part of a family can all be factored in to create a ceremony tailored to cater for your wishes and that of your loved one. I consider my role to be one of facilitating the wishes of the loved one to ensure that the living are left comforted at having participated in a service that was respectful, warm and dignified. Laughs and tears can all form parts of a moving service designed around the wishes of the person who is no longer with us. Not all services are written post death, some are assembled inclusively with the person prior to their passing. Other times, I will work with the family or carers of the loved one to compile a service reflecting their wishes, their personality and the life they lived. Being open minded, and unbiased, I savor the opportunity to find new and thoughtful ways of honouring the wishes of your loved one. I always consider it to be a great honor to be asked to lead an end of life service for someone, and uphold that responsibility with love, care and diligence.
